Democratizing Tech Giants
Tech Giants contribute to economic growth and organize/control communication through digital platforms. We provide two approaches. First, we model Artificial Intelligence (AI) as self-learning capital: Its productivity rises by its use and training with data. Within a three-sector model, we develop a macroeconomic rationale for imposing a "digital" tax on Tech Giants producing AI, once the accumulation of AI has sufficiently progressed. Second, we suggest to democratize Tech Giants by giving users a say in their decisions. With newly-developed collective decision rules and user councils, the democratization of Tech Giants becomes feasible and complements legal provisions, such as competition and basic data protection laws.
