Colloquium: Dr Alexander MacDonald

This lecture will provide an economic perspective on space exploration - past, present, and future - beginning with the funding and motivations for early American astronomy, proceeding through the investments and politics of the Cold War Space Race, and ending with a discussion of the current resurgence of spaceflight efforts through the combination and partnerships of government agencies and wealthy, private-sector individuals.
