The EU ETS endgame and the credibility of the cap going forward
Amidst geopolitical tension, political vibe shifts and climate policies that start to bite, EU climate policy is increasingly getting under pressure. I first discuss what this implies for the EU's flagship climate policy, the EU Emission Trading System (ETS), and EU climate targets more broadly. I then discuss the opportunities and pitfalls of initiatives to deal with this pressure, including potential adjustments to the new ETS to be established in 2027 and my role in scientific policy advice therein.
