This field report describes the data collection effort of a two-stage survey in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland. Its purpose was to connect travel behavior, social networks and their impacts on society. The goal of the project is to reveal societal consequences of mobility (e.g., regarding civic engagement and social capital) and to deepen the understanding of the relationship between mobility and individuals’ social networks. This field report presents the survey methods and the survey instrument, reports on the sampling and recruitment strategy, and analyzes the response behavior and the response burden. The final number of respondents is 2485 for the first part and 1387 for the social network survey, its second part.
