ETH Sustainability Summer School 2020 / Rethinking Waste - Sustainable Solid Waste Management

In collaboration between ETH Zurich and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), a Summer School on solid waste management in Kumasi, Ghana has been planned. 20 students from ETH Zurich and 40 students from KNUST, all of diverse academic backgrounds and cultures, will be able to benefit of an intensive three-​week learning experience submerging them into the topic of waste.

Outline

The summer school will take place in inland Ghana in Kumasi from June 11 to July 6, 2020.

During these three weeks, participants will be able to get first-hand experiences of global challenges and will have the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural settings towards a common goal. The school will combine input by lecturers from external page KNUST and ETH Zurich with insights from local experts, NGO's and workers in waste management. A diverse programme with several excursions aims to motivate students to find their favourite problem in solid waste management and think of ideas together with their teammates.

The course fee is CHF 950, and includes flights from Zurich, accommodation, breakfast and lunch on most days, transport in Ghana, materials used during the workshops, and all the activities of the side program during the week.
