Artificial intelligence - what does it mean for our lives?
The Digital Society Initiative (DSI), launched at the University of Zurich, is organizing a theme week on "Artificial intelligence - what does it mean for our lives?" from March 16 to 20, 2020. During this week, focus will be given to opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. Various experts in the field of artificial intelligence will present to what extent AI intervenes in our daily lives and what it can really achieve today.
Our lives are increasingly determined by digital technologies on many levels. A central role is played by artificial intelligence, or AI for short. Due to the large amount of data and the progress in the field of machine learning and computing power, AI can be used for problems that conventional computer programs have failed to solve: AI systems seem to be able to solve demanding tasks such as translation, gaming or image recognition with ease. But what can artificial intelligence really do and what should it actually be able to do?
The Digital Society Initiative (DSI), which was launched at the University of Zurich, organizes a week with public lectures, workshops and special events. The theme week also refers to the study "When algorithms decide for us: the challenges of artificial intelligence" by external page TA-SWISS, Foundation for Technology Assessment, which will be presented at a external page press conference in Bern on March 18, 2020, 10:15 am.
