David Kaufmann will receive the 2020 Clarence Stone Scholar Award

The Clarence Stone Scholar Award recognizes young scholars who are making a significant contribution to the study of urban politics. ISTP Member David Kaufmann has been selected to receive the 2020 award as a result of his strong publication record and his applied work in real world policy and governance. The award from the Urban and Local Politics Section of the external page American Political Science Association is to be given to up to two scholars per year who are pre-​​tenure or recently advanced within the last 3 years.

The award committee emphasizes David Kaufmann’s strong publication record, comparative urban scholarship, service to the discipline, applied work in real world policy and governance.

The American Political Science Association is the leading professional organization for the study of political science with more than 11’000 members from 100 countries who participate in different sections.  

David Kaufmann is Assistant Professor of Spatial Development and Urban Policy at ETH Zürich and the Deputy Director of the Institute for Spatial and Landscape Development. His research examines the intersections of public policy, urban politics, spatial planning and migration studies.
