The Urban Research Incubator (URI) of the ISTP participated in the Urban Development Round Table 2020
In collaboration with SECO, the virtual "Urban Development Round Table," which took place on Tuesday, November 10, brought together some of the world's major players and funders of urban development, including the World Bank, the Cities Alliance, the Cities Development Initiative for Asia, and IDB. Reaching out beyond academia, Prof. Hubert Klumpner and Michael Walczak had a chance to explore how to devise collaborative solutions to the most pressing urban challenges.
The SECO Urban Round Table Policy event - an encounter between various global partners including the external page World Bank, the external page Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the external page International Finance Corporation (IFC), the external page Asian Development Bank (ADB), the external page African Development Bank (AfDB), the external page European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the external page Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the external page Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), external page Cities Alliance, external page SECO, and the ETH Zurich - took place on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, remotely, finding a new format within a period of social distancing. The above-presented institutions have a decisive impact on how urban development questions are framed, how funds are targeted, and how decision-makers at the city level prioritize and deliver major projects and programmes.
Prof. Hubert Klumpner and Michael Walczak from the Urban Research Incubator (URI) of the ISTP presented their work to the distinguished group on mobility topics, focusing on lighting and light as enabling factors of last-mile pedestrian mobility for safe and secure access throughout urban areas.
