Innovating Water Management: IDEA League Programme at ETH

This past weekend, ETH Zurich hosted the IDEA League Challenge Programme. The event, marking the programme's midway point, brought together 40 highly skilled Bachelor's and Master's students. These students engaged in an intensive exploration of global water management issues, focusing on the identification and resolution of key conflicts.

This weekend, On behalf of ETH, the ISTP co-organized a part of a series of four long weekends scheduled at various IDEA League Universities. Students delved into the complexities of global water management, addressing the conflicts and formulating innovative solutions. The highlight was an enlightening excursion to a run-of-river power plant, offering students a real-world glimpse into sustainable energy practices.

ETH Zurich's installment was one of four extended weekend workshops scheduled across the IDEA League Universities. Participants immersed themselves in the complexities of water management. They not only recognized existing conflicts but also worked towards creating innovative, practical solutions. One of the highlights of the weekend was the excursion to a run-of-river power plant, providing a practical look at sustainable energy practices.

The IDEA League Challenge Programme stands out for its focus on nurturing future leaders equipped to tackle interdisciplinary challenges. This programme is structured to foster a broad range of skills in leadership, politics, entrepreneurship, and policy-making. It achieves this by providing a range of educational experiences, from lectures by distinguished professors to collaborative, hands-on group projects and informative field excursions. The recent Zurich workshop exemplified this; allowing students to approach the subject in a tangible, real-world approach.
