CSFM Seminar: New Regulations for Autonomous Vehicles for Switzerland

The Center for Sustainable Future Mobility (CSFM) is hosting an upcoming seminar on developing suitable regulations for future Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) in Switzerland. This event will feature talks from the Federal Office of Roads and other experts to discuss the challenges posed by this technology to regulators and society.

The potential of autonomous vehicles to transform the future mobility systems
Emilio Frazzoli

Professor Emilio Frazzoli, a member of the Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control (IDSC), researches the planning and control of mobile robotic systems, with a particular emphasis on autonomous vehicles and transportation networks. In recent years, he has been particularly interested in developing new approaches for smart urban mobility.

The Swiss legal framework for automated driving: Overview and key issues
Thomas Probst

Professor Thomas Probst, an economist and lawyer, will provide an overview of the current state of legislation for AVs and address some key issues. He will discuss the challenges Switzerland must cope with in respect to the unique legal background of bilateral treaties with the EU which in some cases have not been updated for several years.

Regulating automated driving in Switzerland
Armin Jost

Armin Jost, a specialist in vehicle technology and operations at the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO), will discuss the future development of national regulations for road vehicles, including innovations in vehicle technology, data protection and international construction, equipment and authorization regulations.

Safety and cybersecurity regulations for AVs
Amin Amini

Amin Amini, the co-founder and CEO of LOXO (Swiss startup building autonomous systems for goods transportation), will summarize the applicable standards from the new Swiss ordinance for automated mobility and will underline the challenges and opportunities for safe and secure automated mobility as of 2025.

The crucial role of insurance for autonomous vehicles
Luigi Di Lillo

Luigi Di Lillo, head of the Products and Partnerships team at Swiss Re, will discuss the risks of AVs and the lack of historical data on accidents to shed light on the complex and key role of the insurance industry in this space.
