Bioelectronics: Interfacing Microelectronics with the Brain?Guest Lecture

Professor Andreas Hierlemann heads the Bio Engineering Laboratory, where his group does a variety of interdisciplinary research on the applications of high tech sensor devices to medicine and other biological systems. His talk will have an emphasis on the current state of the art as well as likely near future developments necessary for a background knowledge in thinking through the legal and social implications of sensor technologies in biological and neurological applications. The talk will be followed by a brainstorming Q&A to discuss the legal ramifications of such technologies, including concerns relating to whether and how extensively electronics and big data are likely to intrude into our physical brains in the coming years.

Professor Hierlemann will give his talk in IFW A.32.1 from 10 am to 12 pm on Wednesday, October 16, in conjunction with the Law & Tech course, which is offered through the Science in Perspective programme.
