“Lighting and crime” – Announcement of Lecture at "10. Straßenbeleuchtungstage" Symposium
ISTP PhD Student David Kretzer will give an online lecture on lighting and crime ("Beleuchtung und Kriminalität"), as part of the "10. Straßenbeleuchtungstage" Symposium, on Thursday, 07. May 2020, at 10.15.
The lecture will be part of a street lighting symposium hosted by external page Die Netzwerkpartner, which constitutes an association of over 120 public utility companies, regional suppliers and energy sector cooperations in Germany.
David Kretzer’s lecture will illustrate the current state of research regarding the impact of public lighting on crime and the fear of crime, which includes the influence of "smart lighting" technology. The relationship between lighting and crime plays an important role in his research on public lighting in Bogotá’s informal settlements.
The symposium was originally planned to take place in Dortmund. However, due to the current COVID-19 travel restrictions, the symposium will be realised online.
