The world’s brightest minds collaborate in a 48h online hackathon to fight the COVID-19 crisis. This is an initiative under the patronage of the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) that aims to develop daring and innovative ideas for successfully facing the challenges posed by the Coronavirus.

With guests including Ambassador Raymond Furrer (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs - SECO), this event, which takes place from Thursday, 19. March to Saturday, 21. March 2020, will inaugurate the newest building emerging from the research of the Klumpner Chair – the Fábrica de Cultura: BAQ, in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The Digital Society Initiative (DSI), launched at the University of Zurich, is organizing a theme week on "Artificial intelligence - what does it mean for our lives?" from March 16 to 20, 2020. During this week, focus will be given to opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. Various experts in the field of artificial intelligence will present to what extent AI intervenes in our daily lives and what it can really achieve today.

The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich will have the pleasure of hosting the ETH Evening Talk: "Resilience through Technology. How We Protect Critical Infrastructures from the Unexpected", on Wednesday, 11 December from 17:15 to 18:45.

In the context of increasingly complex policy challenges and eroding trust in science and public institutions, how can we support effective, evidence-based policies to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? Aiming at achieving the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the World Meteorological Organization hosts a two-day closed event in Geneva from Wednesday, December 11 to Friday, December 13.

Clean, accessible water for all is an essential part of the world we want to live in. However, millions of people including children die every year from diseases associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation and hygiene. The urgent question that arises here is: what can we do to improve sanitation and access to drinking water? Within this framework, ETH is hosting a series of talks under the topic “Clean Water for All” on Sunday, November 24 at Hönggerberg campus in the HCI building.

The Center of Comparative and International Studies hosts a very interesting colloquium talk by Prof. Saba Siddiki of Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University about transport policy in the US. The talk takes place on 31st October at 12:30 at the Department of Political Science at UZH.

The Center for Law & Economics at ETH Zurich will have the pleasure of hosting ETH's Prof. Dr. Andreas Hierlemann on Wednesday, October 16 from 10 am to 12 pm. He will give an accessible talk on "Bioelectronics: Interfacing Microelectronics with the Brain?" in IFW A.32.1, in conjunction with the Law & Tech course.

The Center for Law & Economics at ETH Zurich will have the pleasure of hosting CERN's Dr. Maurizio Bona on Tuesday October 1. Dr. Bona is the senior advisor for relations with parliaments and science for policy at CERN. He will give a talk in IFW A.32.1 from 10 am to 12 pm on Tuesday, October 1, in conjunction with the Law & Tech course, which is offered through the Science in Perspective programme.

Inauguration of the Island City Exhibition took place on Thursday 29th August 2019. A series of events, debates and conferences with architects, planners, anthropologists exploring topics around the island city will take place the following days.
